THE SALT STORY
Salt was founded by Heidi Bruce and Alex Peter with one clear mission - to bring a premium strength and conditioning group fitness experience to the heart of Margaret River.
After years of dreaming, Alex and Heidi turned their shared vision into reality with Salt. They set out to create a space that reflects the needs and wants of the community - programming that delivers results, and a gym that feels like your own.
Outside of Salt’s class schedule, the gym can be yours to train as you like, when you like (with the right membership) providing you with flexibility, the ability to work on your fitness, rehab or lifts at your pace.
Heidi and Alex are big believers in balance - building a lifestyle that works for you. That might mean prioritising a healthy body and mind, spending time with family, getting outdoors and enjoying a social life… for them, it’s all about not taking life too seriously and making space for what matters most.
They're excited to see Salt grow, evolve and become a thriving, supportive community. Most of all, they’re looking forward to seeing members leave feeling stronger, happier, and better than when they arrived.
WHY SALT?

WHY SALT? *
Salt is raw. Salt is powerful.
We connect deeply with the layers of meaning this word holds.
Salt is a major component of sweat - a biproduct of grit, hard-work and natural result of a solid session in the gym. We encourage all members to “get salty” during their time with us.
The phrase ‘salt of the earth’ describes people who are humble, honest, dependable, and hardworking - the kind of people who form the solid foundation of any community.
Salt is Essential to Life: Just like movement, strength, and fitness, salt is fundamental to the human body. It’s vital for muscle function, hydration, and overall health - all things that align directly with the mission of a gym focused on performance and wellbeing.
Being based in Margaret River, the name is grounded in the coastal lifestyle - think sea salt, ocean air, sweat, and sand.
Just as salt is a major component of our sweat, tears are how the body says what words can’t. They mark grief, joy, relief, overwhelm, and love. They are the proof that we are not machines. That we are alive. Leaning into emotion, rather than away from it, is an act of courage.
